About the Area: Bonnie Castle Farm Bed and Breakfast stands as a haven of warmth and charm overlooking the east side of Great Sodus Bay in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. "Bonniecastle" originated on 57 acres of Sodus Bay waterfront property purchased in 1887. It was developed as a resort with a hotel and four summer homes. Guests would travel to "Bonniecastle" by horse and carriage or by steamboat from Sodus Point. During the 1890s and the early 1900s, "Bonniecastle" was a well-known flourishing resort area, and the Pendleton family home and guest house are two of the original four homes that are pictured on several postcards of that era. Bonnie Castle Farm continues to retain its "turn-of-the-century" flavor today.
The unique location of Bonnie Castle Farm, on the "Seaway Trail" places it approximately halfway between Rochester and Syracuse, at the northern end of the Finger Lakes.
Activities and events are easily accessible from Lake Ontario between Rochester and Oswego in the north to Ithaca and Watkins Glen in the south. Enjoy swimming, golf, hiking in Chimney Bluff State Park, and excellent charter fishing.
There is a multitude of events throughout the area including many festivals such as the Renaissance and Lilac, Hill Cumorah Pageant, and the beautiful fall foliage. Visit the National Womens Hall of Fame, explore the wine trails, or spend time at one of the many museums, parks, and colleges.
